The Glenmorangie Signet, namesake and inspiration for this whisky, is an ancient icon found on the Hilton of Caboll Stone, which was discovered just a short walk from Glenmorangie House, next to our barley fields. Crafted by the Picts in the 8th Century, the meaning of the carvings on the stone remain largely mysterious to this day.

Our Signet spirit, made with uniquely roasted ‘chocolate malt’, is also something of an enigma. Using the dark and rich flavours of this distinctive ingredient, our ever-imaginative whisky creator, Dr. Bill Lumsden, has brought into existence a whisky like no other. Signet holds a certain power, much like its namesake from the Hilton of Cadboll Stone, to enchant and draw you into the dark side of delicious.

We dedicate ourselves entirely to it for one week each year – everything else at our distillery in Tain is stopped to allow the creation of this unique and enchanting spirit. This second iteration of Signet is the culmination of more experimental musings from Dr. Bill n how to punctuate the rich and robust tones of his beloved favourite coffee with the sweet and velvety softness of a cappuccino and create something even more rare and luxurious. With an additional maturation in Pedro Ximeneze Sherry Casks, Signet Reserve promises an exploration of chocolate truffles laced with sweet toffee and fudge.
