Fisherman’s Retreat Limited Edition 11 is another exciting venture into the unknown in our cask exploration quest!

An ex Yalumba Fortified Muscat cask from the heart of the Barossa Valley in South Australia has been the home to this beautiful, lightly peated Highland spirit from the Glenglassaugh Distillery!

10 long years of cask and spirit working together has resulted in this amazing dram of depth and character that will leave you wanting more. Best be quick though, with only 409 bottles produced this won’t last long!

Tasting Notes

Appearance

From bottle to glass this whisky looks immense, the rich tones of this beautifully coloured, copper toned spirit is like a stunning sunrise that you just can’t ignore.

On rolling the glass you get a glimpse of what has been occurring over the last 10 years of this spirit’s life, natural oils from both cask and spirit contained within are imparted on the glass for all to see, on watching this legacy of tears return to the spirit one can only imagine the delicacies that lie ahead.

Just a glance at this whisky is an invitation to try something that will take you on a journey of mouthwatering indulgence.

Nose

A medley of sweet fruits instantly takes the lead on this 10 year old Glenglassaugh.

Raisins, dates and figs stand out from the crowd, notes of caramel and vanilla push through whilst a subtle hint of peat is present in the background but never overpowering the unique and flavoursome notes that this spirit has to give.

Palate

An immense and joyful dram indeed, following on from the nose this does not let the palate down.

Raisins, figs, and blossom honey deliver the sweetness that could go toe to toe with any sherry cask.

Vanilla, berries and hints of cinnamon are just the few that shine through amongst others, as with the nose a gentle hint of peat is present towards the back of the palate which compliments this dram even more.

Finish

This is a great result for The Fisherman’s Retreat Anniversary Limited Edition 11.

The Glenglassaugh spirit and Yalumba Fortified Muscat cask have worked as one to produce a truly distinctive and one of a kind single malt whisky.

Bottled at cask strength (54.6%) there are only 409 bottles in existence.
